Every member of the BCPG is bound by these fundamental canons.
Members shall hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public in the performance of their professional duties. No economic gain shall supersede the structural integrity of a project.
Members shall perform services only in areas of their competence. They shall not affix their signatures to plans or documents dealing with subject matter in which they lack competence.
Members shall act for each employer or client as faithful agents or trustees. They shall avoid deceptive acts and shall not accept bribery or engage in corruption.
Members shall strictly adhere to the National Building Code and all relevant state and federal laws governing construction and engineering practices.
Members possess an ethical obligation to report violations of the code, dangerous structures, or unsafe practices to the Guild and appropriate authorities.
Members shall continue their professional development throughout their careers and provide opportunities for the professional development of those under their supervision.

The Guild maintains a strict Zero Tolerance policy for professional negligence. Any member found guilty of:
...will face immediate suspension, revocation of membership, and referral to the appropriate regulatory bodies (COREN, ARCON, etc.) for prosecution.
